I just wanted to let all of you know that I will be speaking at the Dallas A&M Club’s monthly Women’s Luncheon. I’m very excited (and nervous) but mostly I can’t wait to just spend some time chatting about what I love with some amazing Aggie women. I’m still working on my presentation, but basically I will be discussing how to look your best when having your photo taken, and how to improve your own photography with the tools that you have. I would love to see some of you there!
I have gushed about the Southern Weddings blog several times already, as it is hands down no contest my favorite wedding related website of all time. Thus, it should be no surprise that the brand spankin’ new Southern Weddings Magazine is now my favorite wedding mag of all time! Seriously, this magazine is a photogasm of gorgeous weddings. Lara Casey and her team of talented Southern belles have collected some of the coolest wedding details I have ever seen. Normally when I go through wedding mags I rip pages out of things that I love, but I can’t do that with this magazine, because there is something on virtually every page that inspires me. If you’re engaged or hope to be soon, if you’re a wedding planner or vendor, or if you just love weddings, you need to run straight to your closest bookstore and buy one RIGHT NOW. It also makes a great gift for the new bride-to-be in your life. Look for this cover:
And you can see some of my work featured throughout the magazine as well:
I can’t wait to swing by my Barnes and Noble and pick up a few more copies myself. Thanks to the SW gals for taking wedding magazines to a whole new level!
,It’s midnight, which means I am officially 25 years old – WAHOO!! Thanks Mom for making this possible :) But Santa, you and I are still not on speaking terms.
My birthday is the one day of the year I can guilt trip people into doing things for me, so today, I would like to ask you that if I have done anything positive in your life, if I have helped you out in any way, please return the favor by helping me out and checking out some of my favorite charities. If you’re able, send them a little financial loving, because nothing makes me happier than doing some good in the world!
–Kiva.org – small microloans ($25ish) that can completely transform the life of an entrepreneur in need
–Thirst Relief – bringing my absolute favorite beverage (water!) to people who don’t have any
–ASPCA – looking out for our furry friends in distress who can’t stand up for themselves
If you don’t have any money to spare, do me a big birthday favor and head over to Free Rice and fill out the vocab quiz 25 times, one for each year I’ve spent on this beautiful planet. Not only will you improve your vocabulary (which I love, as a former English major), but you’ll help feed hungry people worldwide!
Thanks guys! :)
Update: Holy cow, I just realized Free Rice has a TON of subjects, and multiple levels for each one. I am doing Level 5 English Grammar right now. This is TOTALLY my idea of fun!
Just wanted to let you all know that I am hosting a lunch tomorrow for all the Dallas photogs and a few other friends of mine. We’ll be meeting at Jason’s Deli in Frisco (at 121 and Preston, in front of Stonebriar Mall) at 1 PM and hanging out ’til question marks. Feel free to come join, even if we’ve never met before, I’d love to meet you and talk shop! :)
Please RSVP in the comments so I know how many to expect!
So excited to finally get this wedding up on the blog, because it is hands down the most colorful wedding I’ve ever shot, which made for some STUNNING photos. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: The number one thing you can do to make your reception pop is to have professional lighting. It completely transforms the room. This is the perfect example.. Susan and Adam’s reception was held at a Chinese restaurant in Richardson, which is suited for more traditional Chinese decor. However, with professional color washing (filling the room with a specific color), gorgeous florals, and incredible decor arranged by Kathie Seeley (one of my absolute favorite coordinators, the QUEEN of great details), it felt like a really classy mix between a nightclub and a ballroom. Kathie definitely outdid herself this time!
Here’s a fun story about Susan and Adam.. When I met with them at their first consultation, I knew that they looked familiar, but I thought that as fellow Aggies I had probably just seen them around on campus while I was a student. Then as we were looking through my sample albums, Adam spotted a photo of himself! He had actually been a groomsman at a wedding I shot a few years ago, and there were photos of him and his friends scattered throughout my sample books. What a small world!
Here are a few (okay, a whole lot) of my favorites from their wedding day:
Susan and Adam, being a brilliantly smart bride and groom who trust their photographer and wedding coordinator, opted to do a First Look. These are some of my favorite photos from the whole day!
See what I mean about the reception?? If only you could see the before photos.. Amazing!
